VOLUNTEERS

The library is always looking for dedicated individuals who are seeking rewarding volunteer opportunities.  From working at the circulation desk to helping with children at programs, we appreciate all those who take the time to make helping out at the library.  We accept volunteers from teens to retirees and encourage all who are interested to contribute time to work at the library. For more information, please call (724) 662-4233 or send us an email. You may download our volunteer application.

Volunteers who are age 18 and over must complete at least two clearances, due to Pennsylvania law. These clearances are free for volunteers.

Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (CY113) can be completed online at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home.  This clearance is free for those applying as a volunteer.  You will need to create a Keystone ID in the Child Welfare Portal and follow the instructions for the clearance.

Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check (SP4-164) can be completed online at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp.  This clearance is free for those applying as a volunteer by selecting “New Record Check (Volunteer Only).”  Please follow the instructions for the clearance.

Additionally, a fingerprint-based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is NOT required as long as:

• The volunteer has been a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the entirety of the previous 10 years.

Clearances may be returned along with the completed volunteer application to the front desk of the library or digitally forwarded to the library through email.

For more information on the importance of clearances, visit the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Volunteer FAQ.
